A great dish for a crowd and perfect for sharing, Instant Pot Game Day Chili is full of flavor and easy to make. The Instant Pot does all the work!
If you are new to the Instant Pot or you don’t quite love it, give this recipe a try. This is a great example of one of the things that the Instant Pot can do very well! Enjoy this Instant Pot Game Day Chili on Game Day or any day where comfort food is appreciated.
How to make Instant Pot Game Day Chili
This chili is a one pot meal which makes it more convenient than traditional chili. The flavors are intensified with the pressure of the Instant Pot and the result is a super flavorful, ready to eat chili!
One of the unique things that the Instant Pot offers is the ability to do things like saute inside the pot prior to turning on the pressure. This means less pans to wash and as a bonus it also allows the flavors to build throughout the steps of the dish.
To begin the chili, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in the Instant Pot on the saute setting. Add garlic and cook one minute to soften.
Add ground beef and spicy sausage and break it up. Cook for about 4-6 minutes until browned. It doesn’t have to be browned all the way through, just mostly browned is the target here.
Add chopped peppers and onions and stir. Cook for about one minute.
Pour in beef broth, add stewed tomatoes, water and marinara sauce. Stir.
Add black beans and kidney beans then add chili powder, cumin, paprika, kosher salt & pepper. Stir until well combined.
Place the top onto the instant pot and set to cook for one hour.
Please Note: I feel like I should mention that I don’t have an actual, name brand “Instant Pot” but it has never made a difference in the results.
Once the hour has passed, turn the instant pot off and allow the pressure to naturally release. This can take up to another hour but this is important in order to soften the beans. I just set a timer for an hour and then open and stir after the additional hour is up.
Stir and serve immediately with shredded cheese and jalapeno slices if desired. This is a wonderful balance of flavors and the perfect combination of meat, beans and seasonings. Enjoy!
