How to make Parmesan Garlic Chicken Drumsticks
Since my air fryer arrived, a whole new world has presented itself. The air fryer makes cooking quick and easy so it is a convenient option to create a simple weeknight meal!
Parmesan Garlic Chicken drumsticks are a great dinner idea for a busy family. Chicken is readily available and affordable and a marinade offers endless options for flavor.
Pat the drumsticks with paper towels and generously season both sides with salt and pepper.
Place into a large zip top bag and set aside.
In a small bowl, combine grated Parmesan cheese, dried parsley, minced garlic, olive oil and lemon juice. Stir until well combined.
Pour marinade into the zip top bag over the chicken, squeeze most of the air out and seal the bag.
Push the chicken around to coat. Lay flat in the refrigerator and marinate for 30 minutes to overnight, turning the bag every so often. (The longer the better!)
When ready to cook, remove from zip top bag and place in air fryer. I did two layers, using some extra basket air fryer racks that I bought on amazon. If you don’t have racks, cook the drumsticks in batches.
Lay out drumsticks so that they are not touching, allowing air flow between them.
Cook at 380 Degrees F for 15 minutes then flip chicken and rotate racks. When using layered racks, the top chicken will get more cooked than the bottom chicken, so this evens it out.
Cook for 15 minutes more and check the internal temperature.
Once the drumsticks have reached an internal temperature of 165 Degrees F, they are ready to serve. Pretty easy weeknight meal with big flavor. Enjoy!
A note about Air Fryers
Every air fryer is different. Every air fryer cooks differently. The times I used may not be long enough in your air fryer or might even be too long.
This is why it is important to check your temperature and adjust as necessary. With mine, the top rack chicken was done before the bottom rack so I removed the top rack and cooked for another 5 minutes then checked again and it was perfect.
Chicken isn’t done until it registers at least 165 Degrees F internally. Please check!
