How to Make Easy Homemade Ranch Dip
With only seven simple pantry ingredients, this recipe comes together pretty quickly. Creamy and delicious, it is a light and fresh potluck family favorite.
This dip is best made a few hours before you want to serve it so that the flavors of the garlic and the fresh (or dried) herbs have time to permeate through the creamy base.
In a medium bowl, combine chives, minced garlic, salt and pepper and dill. You can use fresh dill and chives or dried – whatever you have!
I think my favorite thing about this ranch dip is that it is so light. Even without any changes to make a “lighter” version, the bulk of this dip is made up of sour cream which really makes it a nice light consistency. The flavors really shine and the longer it sits, the better it gets!
Add mayonnaise and sour cream and stir until well combined.
This dip can be made an hour in advance, but if you are able, mix and allow to rest in the refrigerator for at least four hours to let the flavors meld.
Stir just before serving and surround with fresh vegetables for dipping.
This dip offers the perfect balance of herbs and salt with a just the right hint of garlic. So good!
In the world of potluck party foods, a light and creamy dip bursting with flavor and surrounded by fresh colorful vegetables is always a welcome addition. Enjoy!

I am anxious to try this. It seems like we go through a gallon of ranch at our house and this is just as easy to make as the Store bought packets of ranch mix . . . and way healthier. I love your substitution options. I bet this would be good with some of your other appetizers like potato skins! Thanks!

This is very similar to my homemade ranch dip, except I omit the fresh garlic and add a small amount of garlic powder and onion powder. I love being able to whip up something like this fresh because it uses such basic pantry ingredients I have on hand. It tastes a million times better than anything pre-made from the grocery store!

This is such a game changer!!! We love ranch dip but not a fan of all the extra preservatives. I don’t know why I never thought of making it at home!!! The next time we have a snack day we are going to have some homemade ranch dip!
