Hi! I’m Michelle, also known as The Recipe Bandit.
As a busy working mom with kids on the go, I know how important it is to be able to make simple and delicious meals using everyday ingredients.
The recipes shared here are family friendly with easy to understand step by step instructions. Tried and true, from our family to yours. Welcome to The Recipe Bandit!
Why The Recipe Bandit?
Why EXACTLY do I refer to myself as the Recipe Bandit? Well, it’s pretty simple, really. I LOVE recipes but I just can’t seem to make them as they are written. Usually this is because I just don’t have the exact ingredients.
I do my best to meal plan and have an idea of what I am going to feed my family every day but the reality is that I have limited time, hungry kids, and I am stuck with whatever is in the fridge. I just have to go with what I’ve got… pretty much the same as every other busy Mom on the planet.
So I substitute what works for me in other people’s recipes. The great thing is, if it works for me, it will probably work for someone else, so I share the recipes. Everyday recipes for everyday people with everyday ingredients.
The Trouble With Recipes
I absolutely LOVE cooking magazines. Every time I open one I find inspiration. Unfortunately, having all of the necessary ingredients to make all of these wonderful looking creations doesn’t always happen.
I used to think that if I didn’t have the listed items then I obviously had to make something else. Right?! Not true! Where is it written that you can’t swap out for what you have? A lot of substitutions can be made and no one notices!
All of these recipes turned out differently than they started because I made them work for me. People do it all the time. I am not afraid to switch things up and you shouldn’t be either.
This blog is about sharing delicious recipes that have been customized to reduce special grocery store or upscale market trips. These recipes came around as a result of substitutions with things you probably already have in the house.
Motivational Speech
Go ahead, swap out an ingredient or two. Make it your own, make it work with what you have. Comment and let me and all the other readers know what worked for you! Visit often and feel free to share your own substitutions. There is no shame in being a Recipe Bandit! 🙂
