What you’ll need to make Asian Ginger Salad Dressing

  • Rice Wine Vinegar – This is less acidic and milder than other vinegars and has a slightly sweet and sour flavor.

  • Soy Sauce – Low sodium or regular soy sauce may be used. Feel free to substitute coco aminos if you prefer. The flavor is the same, the product is allergy friendly, contains less salt and is a lot less expensive than soy sauce!

  • Olive Oil – We use extra virgin olive oil but any olive oil, avocado oil, vegetable oil or canola oil may be used for this recipe.

  • Ketchup – tomato sauce may be substituted if you don’t have ketchup.

  • Lemon Juice – 1 tablespoon, the juice of about half of a lemon.

  • Onion – We use a small yellow onion, about 1/2 cup after chopping. White onions, sweet onions, red onions, or even shallots may be used instead.

  • Celery – We use one piece of celery, finely chopped to get one tablespoon.

  • Fresh Ginger – Peeled and grated. You can substitute 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger if you don’t have fresh.

  • Minced Garlic – You can substitute garlic paste, chopped garlic, or in a pinch, use 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder.

  • Pantry Spices – Regular, white granulated sugar and salt & pepper.

How to make Asian Ginger Salad Dressing

If you have ever been to a teppanyaki restaurant, you know that before the dinner comes the miso soup and a small green salad. It’s not ever anything too fancy but that house made salad dressing is really, really good.

After finding nothing like it in the grocery store we decided to try making our own. After a few trial runs and some small tweaks, this recipe was born. The fresh ginger is a game changer. Fresh & delicious!

All ingredients in the food processor, prior to blending.

Combine all ingredients in a small food processor or blender. I start with the liquid contents then add the rest but the order is not important.

Cover and process for 30 seconds to 1 minute until well blended.

Use immediately or store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. This can be used as a dressing, a quick marinade, or brushed over vegetables before grilling. Enjoy!
