What you’ll need to make Seven Layer Magic Bars

  • Butter – Salted butter is our go to, melted and cooled. The bars are less greasy this way!

  • Graham cracker crumbs – You can make these, just put around 12 full sized honey flavored graham crackers into a food processor and process to crumbs.

  • Sweetened condensed milk – NOT evaporated milk! This is what makes the gooey caramel layer that holds everything together.

  • Chocolate chips – we like milk chocolate but you can use semi sweet or dark to make it a little less sweet.

  • Butterscotch chips – one of our favorite things but white chocolate chips are good too!

  • Chopped pecans – coarsely chopped. You can use walnuts or pistachios if you prefer.

  • Shredded coconut – we use the sweetened shredded coconut but unsweetened can be used as well. You want to be sure to put it on the top so that it gets toasted in the oven. So good!

Bake in preheated oven until edges are golden brown and the sweetened condensed milk is bubbling at the edges, 23-28 minutes.

Cool for 1-2 hours and then cut into 24 bars. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Separate layers with parchment or wax paper. Enjoy!

Make sure that you don’t skip the cooling step. The bars need to be completely cooled so that they cut nicely and don’t fall apart!

You can cool them in the refrigerator to speed up the process if that works better for you.
