This Sunday “Shrimp Boil” Bake includes the flavors, textures and spice of a traditional crab boil in an easy to assemble oven bake. Perfect for a family of four and no stockpot required!
About the Ingredients
- Fresh Corn – husked, cleaned, and cut into rounds, about 1 inch thick.
- Baby Potatoes – halved or quartered to bite sized pieces or substitute regular unpeeled potatoes.
- Onion – peeled and sliced. Any color onion can be used.
- Smoked Andouille Sausage – cut into coins (bite sized pieces). Substitutions include chorizo, kielbasa, ham sausage, or bratwurst.
- Garlic – a necessary ingredient. Fresh whole cloves finely chopped or minced.
- Kosher Salt – Coarse sea salt or Himalayan Pink salt can be substituted for the Kosher salt in this recipe. If you need to use iodized (regular) table salt, only use half as much.
- Ground Black Pepper – Fresh ground is always best but it doesn’t need to be for this recipe.
- Old Bay Seasoning – This versatile spice blend is a mix of celery salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, paprika, and many others.
- Vegetable Broth – Using vegetable broth adds additional flavor but chicken broth or even plain water can be substituted.
- Shrimp – Uncooked (31-40 count) peeled and deveined are standard. Smaller shrimp will cook faster, larger shrimp may take a little longer. Cook only until opaque and cooked through.
- Fresh Lemon – cut into slices. Another necessary ingredient. The oils in the skins add to this recipe so plain lemon juice should not be substituted.
- Butter – We use cubed salted butter. You can of course use unsalted, just season to taste.
