As a marinade or as a sauce, this easy sauce is a delicious addition to vegetables and proteins with it’s sweet and savory flavor!
Teriyaki sauce is a common ingredient in many recipes, but may not be something that you always have on hand in the cupboard or the refrigerator.
With pantry staples, and about 10 minutes, you can make it yourself right in your kitchen!
What you’ll need to make Restaurant Style Teriyaki Sauce
- Soy Sauce – Low sodium or regular soy sauce may be used. Feel free to substitute coco aminos if you prefer.
- Pantry Seasonings and Staples – Ground ginger, garlic powder, cornstarch.
- Brown Sugar – We use light brown sugar, packed.
- Honey – We use liquid honey but in a pinch, light corn syrup or maple syrup may be substituted.
How to make Restaurant Style Teriyaki Sauce
Sweet & savory homemade teriyaki sauce is easy to make at home using common pantry staples. A totally delicious addition to vegetables and proteins!
In a small saucepan combine the soy sauce, 1 cup of water, ginger, garlic powder, packed brown sugar and honey.
Whisk together and heat to a simmer over medium heat.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/4 cup of water and the cornstarch. Stir until dissolved. Set aside.
Once the sauce has started to bubble, whisk in the cornstarch mixture.
The sauce will start to thicken right away.
Remove from heat and use immediately or cool and store covered in the refrigerator until ready to use. Enjoy!
