Weeknight Instant Pot Beef with Broccoli

Meal Ideas

Last Updated on November 17, 2025 by Michelle Mundy

Tender beef slices, fresh crispy broccoli, and a delicious, thick stir fry sauce. Just as good as takeout!

The Instant Pot is really great at some things, like making the steak slices in this meal really tender and infusing the flavors right into the meat.

Broccoli gives this dish a little crunch, and the rice soaks in all of that thick, flavorful sauce.

All around a delicious bowl that tastes a lot like takeout but made right at home!

What You’ll Need to make Weeknight Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli

  • Sesame Oil – Common in Asian dishes, a little goes a long way. This has a nutty and earthy taste.

  • Olive Oil – We use extra virgin olive oil but any olive oil, avocado oil, vegetable oil or canola oil may be used for this recipe.

  • Steak – Trimmed and sliced in strips to 1/4 inch thickness. Top Sirloin Steak, Top Round Steak (Also known as London Broil) or Tri Tip are the best choices of steak for this recipe.

  • Pantry Staples – Salt & pepper and cornstarch (used to thicken the sauce).

  • Onion – Chopped, about 1/2 cup. We use yellow onion but white onions, sweet onions, or shallots may be used instead.

  • Fresh Garlic – Minced, about 1 teaspoon. You can substitute garlic paste, chopped garlic, or in a pinch, use 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder.

  • Beef Broth – Vegetable or chicken broth may be used instead if that is what you have available.

  • Soy Sauce – Low sodium or regular soy sauce may be used. Coco aminos may be used f you prefer.

  • Brown Sugar – We use light brown sugar. You can also use dark brown sugar for a deeper, richer flavor.

  • Cooked Broccoli – We prefer to use steamed broccoli but frozen broccoli may also be used.

  • Cooked Rice – Precooked rice. We use white rice, brown rice, or even Minute Rice..

This looks so good. I love beef and broccoli but I don’t make it as often as I would like. Unfortunately, I have yet to invest in an instant pot, so I have to make it the old fashion way when I do. I’m going to have to add this recipe to my meal plan for next month.

Thank you! Beef and Brocolli is my daughter’s favorite dish from any Chinese restaurant, and I’ve been wanting to learn to make it myself because we always have a whole beef in the freezer. I will definitely try this.

I love Instant Pot for only 3 things: Beef, Pork and Indian food. For everything else, it’s hard to adjust the time so that it doesn’t get overcooked! So this recipe would be perfect for Instant Pot. I’ll definitely give this a try soon! Thanks!

I actually do love my instant pot, but probably because I use it mostly when we are traveling in the RV, and it saves space for me. I can’t wait to try this recipe – looks delicious!

I need more people around me that love their Instant Pots. If you get a chance, email me your favorite recipe in the Instant Pot when you’re cooking in the RV. We keep our RV up north in the summer and burgers get really boring after a while! therecipebandit2@gmail.com. ❤️

This looks so yummy! InstaPot or not I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for the honest review about your Instant Pot I keep saying I’m going to buy one but then get a 50/50 review on if it saves times – and like you I want and need to save time. Most times my crock pot works just fine for me.
