Do Dogs Like Treats Made at Home?

Our dogs are like our family and because of this, we cook for them too! They are happy to be our taste testers, no matter what we are making but believe it or not, they haven’t actually loved every recipe we have tried.

Their favorite treats to date are small batch Two Ingredient Dog Treats (probably because there are so many delicious flavor combinations), Peanut Butter Pumpkin Dog Treats, and now these healthy and easy Homemade Peanut Butter & Banana Dog Treats. They are all in regular rotation in our house!

What You’ll Need to Make Homemade Peanut Butter & Banana Dog Treats

  • Oats – We use Old Fashioned Oats for this recipe but you can use rolled oats, or instant oats instead.

  • Bananas – 2 ripe bananas, medium sized, peel removed.

  • Peanut Butter – 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter. Be sure that the peanut butter that you choose to use does not contain XYLITOL or Birch Sugar.

  • Whole Wheat Flour – The most nutritional flour choice for homemade dog treats, whole wheat flour does contain gluten, which can be a trigger for allergies in some dogs. If you know that your dog has a grain intolerance you’ll want to use a gluten-free flour.Check out this article on Wiggleworthy to explore all of the flours that you can use when making dog treats.
