We don’t bake very often but when we do, we try to make sure it’s something memorable. Although it is not caramel, this easy drizzle elevates and enhances the flavors of baked goods and it’s really easy to make.

It can be used over just about anything but it is especially tasty over Caramel Apple Upside Down Cake, Pumpkin Pecan Streusel Muffins, Banana Bread, and drizzled over ice cream. Easy and delicious!

What’s the Difference Between Brown Sugar Drizzle and Caramel Sauce?

Although brown sugar drizzle looks and tastes a lot like caramel when you first make it, it is not. This sauce is created in less than half the time that it takes to make caramel. and does not require any careful temperature control. It also does not involve the time, attention and stirring required to create a real homemade caramel sauce.

This sauce is less refined and not as smooth as caramel. It has a tendency to soak into baked goods rather than staying on top and when cooled, it becomes crystallized and needs to be reheated in the microwave or in a water bath to become a sauce again.

It is a delicious flavor enhancement to so many things and it is completely worth making, but for the record, it is not actual caramel, it’s more like “almost”” caramel, just as tasty but a whole lot less work!
