Method
- Pour the water into a liquid measuring cup and add the sugar, stirring to combine.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the warm water and let sit for 5-10 minutes until yeast becomes frothy.
- Pour the flour and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer. Using the dough hook attachment, slowly add the yeast mixture, mixing on low speed until combined.
- Add the olive oil and continue to knead on low speed for 5-6 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.
- Remove from bowl and place on a lightly floured surface. Form into a ball and place into a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for 90 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, preheat the oven or grill to 500 degrees F.
- Remove the pizza dough from the bowl, dust it with flour and knead it briefly. Divide the dough into two portions and roll out into 14 inch rounds. Generously sprinkle cornmeal on the pizza stone or pizza pan before putting the pizza crust down to keep it from sticking.
- Top with whatever toppings you like and bake in a 500 degree F oven, on the grill, or in a pizza oven for 8-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your pizza crust and toppings. It is ready when the crust is browned and cheese is melted. Enjoy!
